In December 2025, after an Independent Review of the Victorian Public Service, the Victorian Government announced that Sustainability Victoria would be abolished and cease operations by 30 June 2026.

Ownership of FirstRate5 will transfer to the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) in late June 2026, where it will continue to operate within DEECA’s Energy Group. 

FirstRate5 customers will receive an email in June 2026 informing them of the exact transfer date and required updates to the software licence to facilitate the transfer to DEECA.

The transfer will not impact FirstRate5 customers or the day‑to‑day use of the FirstRate5 software and website. The helpdesk contact details will remain unchanged, and no system downtime is currently anticipated. If any maintenance is required, advance notice will be provided.
